Description

This is the listing for all standard blade finishes we offer. Each have their own personality, benefits, and characteristics. When choosing a blade finish, think about what you're after, how you use your knife and what you want it to look like. If your blade has scratches that need to be corrected, choose something with a bead blast. Not choosing a stonewash, whether its a acid wash or blast will be a matte finish without distressing that is more prone to show finger prints, dirt, and use marks. Adding a stonewash to your blade finish helps hide scratches, prints, and whatnot. All blade finishes come with a standard working re-sharpening on our Wicked Edge system, upgrade to a single polished edge or a D/E polished edge by checking the boxes above.

Please note that 'darkness' of blade finish 100% depends on carbon content of your steel, blades with higher carbon content will react more to the acid than a more stainless and corrosion resistant steel. Blades that get darkest are typically steels like Maxamet, 3V, 4V, CruWear, D2, M4 ETC. Stainless steels such as S35VN, 154CM, S35VN, 20CV/M390, CPM154 ETC will not get as dark as higher carbon but will take a nice medium gray tone.

Blade Finish Break Down:

Acid wash - Blades are cleaned, pivot area is masked, and blade is acid washed leaving it a darker matte grey than it started. This blade finish does not hide scratches or logos, fix patina issues, and is very prone to scratches or prints. Comes with standard re-sharpening.

Acid Stonewash - The most common blade finish. Blades are cleaned, pivot area is masked off, the acid wash and your chosen stonewash is applied leaving a medium to dark gray finish with distressing. This finish doesn't remove logos or scratches but can mask them better than an acid wash alone. Comes with a standard re-sharpening.

Satin Blast - Blades are cleaned, pivot area is masked, and then bead blasted with our satin media leaving the blade a light matte gray. This finish is more subtle and sleek. Satin blast may not hide deep scratches or dark logos due to the fineness of the media but should correct light scratches due to use or poor sharpening. Comes with standard re-sharpening.

Satin Blast + Stonewash - Blades are cleaning, pivot area is masked, then blasted with satin media and stonewashed with your chosen option. Stonewashing over a Satin blast isn't extremely noticeable but more of a subtle distressing regardless of type of stonewash chosen. Stonewashing helps mask carry/use marks and finger prints. This blade finish is perfect for those that are going for more subtle, gentleman carry look. Comes with standard re-sharpening.

Standard Blast - Blades are cleaned, pivot area is masked, then blasted with our standard media that is a noticeably darker matte gray. Standard blast is a medium matte gray that is susceptible to finger prints, scratch marks from carry or use and will hide scratches, logos, or patina'd blades. Comes with standard re-sharpening.

Standard Blast + Stonewash - Blades are cleaned, pivot area is masked, then blasted with our standard media and stonewashed using the stonewash option chosen. Adding a stonewash to a Standard bead blast aids in hiding future use or carry marks while adding distressing marks that give the blade a classy look while not being afraid of being put to work. Comes with standard re-sharpening.

Working Finish -  Our most popular blade finish. Blades are cleaned, pivot area is masked, blasted, acid washed and given your chosen stonewash. This blade finish is most popular due to it being typically the darkest finish we offer, also because it usually fixes DIY forced patina jobs, botched acid washes, removes heavy use marks, scratches, logos etc. Our most aggressive standard blade finish available. Comes with standard re-sharpening.

    Rex45 Blade refinishing and sharpening

Posted by John Meadows on Oct 8th 2022

I sent my blade from a Spyderco Manix In for refinishing and sharpening. The previous owner had tried to acid etch the blade and it looked terrible. I sent it to WOE and received it back looking great and sharp. Thank you

    No more finger prints, Mom!

Are you tired of wiping down those shiny satin blades? Come over to the darkside (w/ the knife blades, that is). No more fingerprints or minor scratches that interrupt your "playtime". To me, it's a manly look and Wok does it perfectly.

    New life

Posted by Gilberto Medina on Apr 7th 2022

Thank you, my old user now looks “brand new” with its working finish. It still has a lot of life left, but it was looking like I abused it, now it can proudly strut out the door.

    Satin Blast was phenomenal!

Posted by Tyler C on Feb 22nd 2022

I got the satin blast on my ace biblio, along with a flipper delete and forced brass patina. The blast finish is absolutely beautiful: sleak, consistent, and doesn't hold finger prints. Everything came out perfect, and it makes me eager to get more of my knives modded by these guys!

    Working Finish

Posted by Mike on Feb 17th 2022

I opted for the "working finish" for my ZT0562 and couldn't be happier with the results. The new aesthetic looks amazing and melted away the years of use (and some abuse). I applied some Axe Wax to help protect the finish, which resulted in more contrast, a deeper/darker finish, and a buttery smooth satin sheen. Well done on this WOK. I highly recommend!
