First released in 1990, the original Spyderco Endura helped pioneer the concept of lightweight, injection-molded folding knife handles. Now in its fourth generation of design evolution and still one of Spyderco's most popular and enduring models, the highly refined Endura 4 Lightweight has inspired numerous variations and is a natural platform for Exclusive projects.

The most unique feature of this knife is its injection-molded handle, which combines glow-in-the-dark fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) with a black Zome treatment. The handle's base FRN material is enhanced with phosphor, which becomes energized when exposed to light and can then radiate its own visible light in the dark. The glow-in-the-dark FRN is then hand dyed using a process called Zome (pronounced "zoh-may"). Inspired by traditional art forms used to dye textiles, expert Japanese artisans hand brush a black dye onto each handle to create distinctive, one-of-a-kind patterns. This labor-intensive technique is reminiscent of classical hiki-zome (brush dyeing) and makes every one of these knives an individual work of art.

The other element that sets this knife apart is its full-flat-ground VG-10 stainless steel blade, which is cloaked in a black titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating. To complement the blade finish, the lock bar, four-position pocket clip, and all other handle hardware also sport matching black coatings.
